Working together with the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office and Homeland Security Investigations, members of the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Narcotics Division located illegal firearms and more than $38,000 in cash believed to be proceeds from illegal drug sales at a Mandeville-area home.

Working with information received from the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office and in conjunction with Homeland Security Investigations, STPSO Narcotics detectives executed a search warrant Thursday (March 21) at the home of 49-year-old Byron Seymour in the 700 block of Heavens Drive near Mandeville.

During their search of the home, detectives discovered and seized four unlawfully possessed semiautomatic firearms and $38,214 in cash.

Detectives with the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office also executed a search warrant at a residence in their jurisdiction with ties to Byron Seymour.  At that residence, they located and seized a substantial amount of illegal drugs and a firearm.

Seymour, who was on federal probation as a result of a prior drug conviction, was located in Tangipahoa Parish and arrested by detectives with the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office and booked into their jail.

Criminal charges for Seymour are pending in St. Tammany Parish.

“Criminals don’t know jurisdictional boundaries,” Sheriff Randy Smith said, “which is why it is important for law enforcement agencies to work together to keep illegal drugs and firearms out of neighborhoods. We have an excellent working relationship with both the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office and our federal partners with Homeland Security.”
