A 14-year-old student at a Slidell-area junior high school was arrested Wednesday (March 13) after he posted on social media he was going to “shoot up” another local junior high school.

Deputies and detectives with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office were notified after another student told administrators about the threat.

The boy was issued a summons for L.R.S. 40:1B Menacing and was released into the care of a parent on a custodial agreement to appear in court.

“We have made it very clear that threats like this will be taken seriously,” St. Tammany Parish Sheriff Randy Smith said.  “We will continue to work with our schools and investigate any and all threats made at our schools or to the students and faculty who attend them.”
