A 13-year-old Lacombe-area boy was arrested Wednesday (January 10) for menacing after he made a comment about shooting up his junior high school.

Deputies with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office were contacted by the school, and while the child was not in possession of any firearms, school personnel did find a live 40-caliber round in his bag.

The boy was issued a summons for L.R.S. 40:1B Menacing and was released on a custodial agreement to appear in court.

“We have made it very clear that comments like this will be taken seriously,” St. Tammany Parish Sheriff Randy Smith said.  “We will continue to work with our schools and investigate any and all threats made at our schools or to the students and faculty who attend them.”
