What appeared to be human remains were discovered by a Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LADOTD) work crew Tuesday (January 22) adjacent to Interstate 10 near Slidell.

St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to an area near I-10 between Gause Boulevard and the I-10/I-12/I-59 split at approximately 10:15 a.m. Tuesday in response to a badly decomposed human body being located under an interstate bridge.

Workers with LADOTD were clearing debris along the interstate right-of-way when they observed what appeared to be badly decomposed human remains and called 911.

St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s deputies responded and investigators have turned the remains over to the St. Tammany Parish Coroner's Office for identification.

There were no immediate signs indicating foul play and the investigation is ongoing.  No additional information is available at this time.
