An arrest has been made in the homicide case of 27-year-old, Cody Couch.
On Friday evening (April 14th), St. Tammany Parish deputies responded to a 911 call in reference a male who had been shot at 11789 Tantella Ranch Road in Folsom, Louisiana. The shooting victim was identified as Cody Couch. Couch was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Two women remained at the scene of the shooting, one of which was Couch’s fiancée, and the other, a friend, 32-year-old, Margaret Stockstill (Franklinton, Louisiana). Stockstill admitted to shooting Couch with her handgun, claiming self-defense.
At some point during the evening, Couch, his fiancée, and Stockstill began arguing. The argument allegedly became physical, at which point, Stockstill armed herself with a .22 caliber revolver and shot Couch once in the lower abdomen. The investigation and evidence concluded that shooting Couch was not justified.
St. Tammany Parish Sheriff Randy Smith says, “If you are going to take the life of another human being, it needs to be justified. That was not the case in this particular instance. It is very unfortunate that this happened, and it all could have easily been prevented. Tempers flared and someone lost their life because of it.”
Stockstill was arrested late Wednesday afternoon with L.R.S. 14:31 Manslaughter, and was booked into St. Tammany Parish Jail.
