In the last two weeks, the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested three suspects for RS 14: 68.2 Unauthorized Use of Food Stamps.  Each suspect concealed information during the application process in order to receive the benefits.

Ronnie McCahill (DOB 06/09/1986; 11133 Achee Road, Folsom) and Mary Beth Doran (DOB 12/15/1986; same address) were arrested on July 28.  McCahill and Doran have three children together and McCahill has another child.

From 2010-2012, McCahill filed for and received benefits for himself and his child. He did not report that he was living with Doran, who was employed at the time.

By failing to report Doran’s income, he illegally received $11,963 in SNAP benefits.

Doran in turn applied for and received benefits for herself and the other three children from June to November 2013.  She did not report that she was employed at the time and her income exceeded the limit for SNAP benefits.

By not reporting her income, she illegally received $3,508 in SNAP benefits.

Dawn Johnston (DOB 04/29/1977; 122 Trafalgar Square, Slidell) was arrested on August 6.

Johnston filed for and received benefits for herself, her husband and her three children in 2010-2011. She failed to report that she was employed during that whole time and illegally received $3,976 in SNAP benefits.

The arrests came after the state Department of Children and Family Services completed its investigation into the SNAP (food stamp) benefits the two families were receiving.  DCFS turned their completed investigation over to the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office who obtained warrants for their arrests.
