The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s has arrested Harry Cleland (DOB 3/7/1962) for L.R.S. 14:31 Manslaughter in connection with an incident that occurred at a Madisonville-area residence Christmas night.  

The initial investigation into the below incident, revealed that Cleland and the deceased were involved in a romantic relationship and had been fighting. The argument escalated and at some point during their altercation Wednesday (December 25) evening, Cleland armed himself with a gun and the deceased armed himself with a machete. Cleland fired upon the victim, striking the victim multiple times before calling 911. 

The remains of the deceased have been turned over to the St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office, who will make an identification of the man, notify his next of kin and a determination of cause and manner of death.

The investigation is ongoing, and no additional information is available at this time.

St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives are currently working a homicide that occurred tonight (December 25) in the Madisonville area.

At approximately 7:45 p.m., STPSO deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 700 block of Highway 1085 in the Madisonville in reference to an altercation that occurred between two individuals which resulted in the death of one of those individuals.

The second individual is in custody and being questioned at this time.
