Deputies with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Traffic Division are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred near Pearl River late Saturday night/early Sunday morning (April 28/29).

Just after midnight Sunday morning, STPSO patrol deputies were at a nearby residence working an unrelated call when passersby stopped to alert them of what appeared to be a motorcycle in a ditch near the intersection of Pine Street Extension and Chris Kennedy Road.

When deputies arrived at the location, they observed bystanders trying to rescue an individual who was stuck underneath a motorcycle in the ditch on the  south side of Pine Street Extension.

Paramedics arrived on scene and began life saving measures, but were unsuccessful.

At this time, investigators with the STPSO Traffic Division and Crime Lab were summoned to the scene and began their investigation.

It is believed the driver was headed eastbound on Pine Street Extension prior to the crash.

The identity of the driver is not being released at this time pending a positive identification from the St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office.

The crash is still under investigation and toxicology is pending. The driver was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
