Shortly after 6:00p.m. Friday (Jan. 31) the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office became aware of a misleading social media post depicting what appears to be an individual dressed in jail striped clothing fleeing a local area hospital.

The individual captured in the video, Brandon Ball (DOB 07-03-1985) from Gulfport, MS was taken into custody by St. Tammany Parish Deputies for a drug law violation.  Prior to being booked into the St. Tammany Parish Jail and during the course of a search for additional contraband, this individual suffered a medical emergency, requiring his transport to a local area hospital.  While at the hospital for a non-life threatening medial complaint, Ball was issued a summons/notice to appear in the 22nd Judicial Court for possession of drug paraphernalia, pursuant to L.R.S. 40:1023.

Ball was uncooperative with hospital staff and against medical advice chose to leave the hospital on his own accord, without changing into his own clothing.  At no time was Ball ever a danger to the public at large or the local community.  Ultimately, deputies made contact with Ball after he abruptly left the hospital and were able to recover the jail striped clothing.
