The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Slidell man in connection with an armed robbery that occurred earlier this month in the Lacombe area.

Jonathan Joseph Gabriel (DOB 11/15/ 1977) of Slidell was arrested by STPSO Detectives late December 17 at the Slidell Police Department, where he was being questioned on a separate armed robbery that occurred in their jurisdiction.

While in the custody of Slidell Police, Gabriel was interviewed by STPSO Detectives, at which time he confessed to an armed robbery previously reported to have occurred at a home in unincorporated St. Tammany Parish.

At approximately 3:30 p.m. Dec. 13, STPSO deputies were dispatched to a home on Rising Sun Street after a resident reported he had been robbed. He told deputies he heard a knock on his door and when he opened the door, a man, now identified as Gabriel, was pointing a pistol at him. With a bandana covering his face, Gabriel demanded money. He fled the scene with a small amount of cash, a revolver and two bottles of prescription medication. 

Slidell Police recovered the stolen firearm while conducting a search warrant at Gabriel’s home relative to their investigation. 

In connection with the armed robbery that occurred Dec. 13 on Rising Sun Street in Lacombe, Gabriel has been arrested on the following charges: 

L.R.S. 14:64 Armed Robbery - Felony
L.R.S. 14:64.3 Armed Robbery; Attempted Armed Robbery: Use of Firearm (Additional Penalty) – Felony

Gabriel will be booked in to the St. Tammany Parish Jail upon his release from Slidell Police custody.
