Sheriff Randy Smith wants residents to be aware of a scheduled road closure which will begin Tuesday, September 7, as the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office continues to work with crews as they complete necessary repairs to powerlines damaged during Hurricane Ida.

CLECO has notified the Sheriff’s Office of the need to completely block off Riverside Drive off U.S. Highway 190 near Covington beginning Tuesday, September 7, in order to make repairs to powerlines.  This roadway is extremely narrow and there is significant damage to powerlines in the area.

Since the necessary work requires the roadway to be completely closed, CLECO has developed a schedule of times when work will stop and the roadway will be opened to allow traffic to pass into and out of the neighborhood.

Work will begin daily at 8:30 a.m. and stop at dark, at which time the roadway will reopen until the next morning. There will be work breaks, and the roadway will be opened from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 5-6 p.m.

The schedule will resume every day until the work is complete.

Sheriff Smith and CLECO thank everyone for their patience and cooperation as we all work together during this time.
