A 33-year-old Mississippi woman died Sunday evening at the Louisiana Heart Hospital after she was involved in a vehicle crash that occurred earlier that evening in Sun.

At approximately 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Sonia Taylor, 33, of Foxworth, Miss., was driving a 2003 Dodge Stratus southbound on Louisiana Highway 21 near the Sun town limits.

At the same time, Lenzy Williams, 58, of Bogalusa, was also headed southbound on La. 21 in a 1993 Chevrolet Corvette.

Williams was slowing down to turn into the Sun Bingo Hall parking lot when, the Dodge Stratus driven by Taylor struck his Chevrolet Corvette from behind. Both vehicles came to rest in the median.

Williams’ passenger, 39-year-old Tina Bickham, was transported to Lakeview Regional Medical Center, with injuries.

Devon Taylor, 11, who was a passenger in the Dodge Stratus, was also transported to Lakeview Regional Medical Center.

A second passenger in the Dodge Stratus, 30-year-old Beth Wooten, was also injured and was airlifted to North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond.

Sonia Taylor and Mason Taylor, 9, were both transported to the Heart Hospital, where Sonia Taylor died from unknown injuries.

The St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office is expected to conduct an autopsy in an effort to determine cause and manner of death.
