Deputies with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Operations Division located a missing Madisonville woman in the marsh near Big Branch Tuesday evening.

At approximately noon on Tuesday, December 2, Margaret “Peggy” Reynier  left a residence at 24558 U.S. Highway 190 in Lacombe on foot. She was reportedly walking to a home in the Lemieux Road/ Bremermann Road area.

A call came into 911 at approximately 4:15 p.m., reporting Reynier missing.

Members of the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Operations Division was called out at approximately 5:30 p.m. to assist in the search.

It is believed that Reynier became disoriented and followed a path at the end of Bremermann Road for approximately a half of a mile. That path led into the marsh, where Reynier continued walking and became lost.

At some point she shed her wet clothing and covered herself in mud and marsh grass in an attempt to keep warm.

While canvasing the area, deputies heard a subject yelling for help in the distance. Searching on foot, they followed the yells until they found Reynier huddled on the ground, approximately 300 yards into the marsh.

She was located at approximately 6:20 p.m., naked, disoriented and very cold.

Deputies gave the subject a jacket to wear and escorted her out the marsh and back to Lemieux  Road, where Fire District 4 personnel were waiting.

Fire District 4 transported Reynier to the Louisiana Heart Hospital for examination.
