Two area teenagers are behind bars after they robbed another teenager at gunpoint Saturday (April 6) evening near the Tammany Hills Subdivision.

The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested Blayne Bedford (DOB 8/13/2001) of Covington and Caleb Wood (DOB 7/26/2000) of Bush. Both have been booked into the St. Tammany Parish on the following charges:

L.R.S. 14:64      Armed Robbery (FELONY)
L.R.S. 14:64.3  Armed Robbery with a Firearm

The victim, a 17-year-old from the Lacombe-area contacted the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office Saturday night to report he had been robbed at gunpoint after getting in the car with an acquaintance and another teenager.

The victim told deputies he had contacted Bedford about a ride home. When Bedford picked up him up from a Mandeville-area residence, Wood was driving the vehicle. The two drove him to the area of 11th Street in Tammany Hills near Covington, where the victim believed the three were going to a party. Once at this location, Bedford produced a handgun and robbed the victim of his cellphone, wallet, watch, bag, shirt and shoes. Wood then struck the victim in the face with a closed fist, causing a laceration and a swollen left eye and told him to get out of the vehicle.

Later that same night, Bedford posted photos on social media of Wood and himself with some of the stolen items.

On Sunday (April 7), arrest warrants for both Bedford and Wood were issued through the 22nd Judicial District Court. They were located at Bedford’s residence on Louisiana Highway 40 in Covington and were taken into custody without incident.

The investigation is ongoing and no additional information is available at this time.
