At approximately 8:00 a.m. this morning, St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s deputies located a male body floating in the lake just east of the Twin Spans. The man is believed to be the same person seen jumping over the side rail of the  westbound twin span over the weekend.

Sheriff’s Office marine division deputies were entering day three of the search for the man after motorists reported seeing him exit his vehicle and jump from the bridge at approximately 8:30 a.m. Sunday morning.

Since that time, deputies have been canvassing portions of eastern Lake Pontchartrain with boats equipped with underwater imaging devices and helicopters.

Investigators are on the scene and the body has been turned over to the St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office for a positive identification.
