STPSO Detectives have arrested three Covington men in connection with a drive by shooting that took place in Lacombe, La on Monday, July 16.

On Monday (July 16) shortly after 8:00 pm, a drive-by shooting was reported in the area of North Pontchartrain Dr. in Lacombe, La.  The initial investigation revealed shots were fired toward a residence from the roadway, and several of those shots struck the residence, which was occupied at the time by two adults and three children. No one was injured.

A grey Hyundai Sonata with dark tinted windows was seen in the area shortly before the shots were fired, and was later determined to be a suspect vehicle.  The victims initially suspected an individual named Avery Fabre was responsible, due to a contentious history between the victims, and Fabre.   Earlier that day (June 16) Fabre uploaded a homemade rap music video in which the victims believed Fabre was threatening them.

On Friday (July 20), the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office requested the public’s assistance with identifying the suspect vehicle and its occupants.  Through helpful information from an alert citizen, the suspect vehicle was identified, located, and seized by STPSO Detectives on Monday (July 23) in the area of North Monroe St. inside the City limits of Covington.  A search warrant was obtained and evidence related to the shooting was located within the vehicle.  The investigation revealed that an individual named Jaydon Carter utilized the vehicle on the evening of the shooting.  It was subsequently learned that Jaydon Carter and the initial suspect, Avery Fabre, are related as cousins.

On Tuesday (July 24), at approximately 4:00 p.m. STPSO Detectives located Jaydon Carter and Avery Fabre engaged in a game of dice with several other people in the driveway of a residence in the area of W. 32nd Ave., located inside the City Limits of Covington, La.  Upon making contact with the two suspects, Detectives discovered Fabre had Marijuana in his pocket.  One of the other individuals present, Johnterrius McDowell, was found to be concealing what was later determined to be a stolen pistol in his pocket.  During the investigation, it was learned that Jaydon Carter was the driver of the vehicle used in the Lacombe  shooting incident while Johnterrius McDowell and Avery Fabre were passengers.  Investigators have determined that Fabre was the shooter.

All three subjects were taken into custody without incident and booked into the St. Tammany Parish Jail on the following charges:
