Two Tangipahoa Parish juveniles have been charged following a pursuit with a stolen vehicle.

At approximately 6:45p.m. Tuesday (August 21) while patrolling Ronald Reagan Highway in Covington, LA, a St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s deputy observed a pickup truck matching the description of one that had been previously reported stolen this morning, out of the Hammond area.

The deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the pickup truck, and when the driver failed to stop, the deputy took pursuit. The vehicle pursuit ended inside the city limits of Covington in the area of 24th Avenue; at which time, the driver and passenger fled on foot.

A perimeter was established with the assistance of Covington Police Department and the STPSO K-9 Division, and the driver and his passenger were quickly located, hiding inside a shed located behind a residence near where they had left the stolen pickup. 

The 16 year old driver was booked into the Florida Parishes Juvenile Detention Center on the following charges:

L.R.S. 14:69 Possession of Stolen Property

L.R.S. 14:108.1 Resisting Arrest by Flight

L.R.S. 14:108 Resisting Arrest

L.R.S. 14:62.3 Unauthorized Entry of An Inhabited Dwelling

The 14 year old passenger in the vehicle was booked into the Florida Parishes Juvenile Detention Center on the following charges:

L.R.S. 14:69 Possession of Stolen Property

L.R.S. 14:108.1 Resisting Arrest by Flight

L.R.S. 14:62.3 Unauthorized Entry of An Inhabited Dwelling
