A man wanted out of Mississippi was arrested last week after a member of the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office Highway Enforcement Unit stopped him for a traffic violation on Interstate 12.

Shortly after midnight on Feb. 2, a deputy with the new Highway Enforcement Unit conducted a traffic stop on a Dodge Charger with a Kentucky license plate for improper lane usage.  The Charger, which was driven by 27-year-old Julius Williams of Gulfport, was travelling westbound on Interstate 12 near Lacombe.

A records check during the stop revealed that Williams had a warrant for his arrest of out of Mississippi for a parole violation relative to the transportation of illegal narcotics.

Julius Williams (DOB 10/5/1989; 724 Teaguard Road, Gulfport, Miss.) was transported to the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office, where he was booked as a fugitive.
