A teenager is wanted for attempted first-degree murder and simple kidnapping after he shot a Lacombe man earlier this month.

Just after 8 p.m. on March 5, St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to W. Elm Street in Lacombe in reference to shots being fired.  Responding deputies found a 23-year-old man lying face-down in his driveway with a gunshot wound to his upper back and a second gunshot wound to the back of his arm.

[Text Box: Adrian Cox] Since then detectives have pieced together what occurred and have obtained warrants for the individuals responsible.

The victim and a friend had been sitting in a pickup truck parked on W. Chestnut St. in Lacombe, when they were approached by two black males. The younger of the two men, a 15-year-old from Lacombe, was armed with a baseball bat. The older one, who detectives have since identified as 17-year-old Adrian Cox, was armed with a pistol equipped with a laser.

After demanding the passenger leave, Cox turned his attention to the victim, demanding he turn over his property.

The victim told Cox he didn’t have anything, Cox demanded the victim take them to the victim’s home.

Once, the victim complied with the demand, Cox and the juvenile entered the bed of the truck.

As they approached the victim’s home, however, Cox fired approximately five shots through the rear glass of the truck, striking the victim twice.  Cox and the juvenile then fled the scene.

The truck ultimately crashed into a ditch on W. Elm St. and the victim was able to run home, where he was located by deputies.

The juvenile in the case was by detectives on March 8, and he was booked into the Florida Parishes Detention Center on the following charges:

L.R.S. 14:45, Simple Kidnapping
