One person has died following a single vehicle crash in the Pearl River area Monday night.

Shortly after 9:30 p.m. Monday (November 6), St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene of a single vehicle crash on Teat Blackwell Road in Pearl River.

When deputies arrived, they discovered a vehicle that had exited the roadway and struck a tree near the intersection of 16th Section Road.

The single occupant, 36 year-old Terri Crawford of Pearl River, was transported by Acadian Ambulance to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injuries from the crash.

The subsequent investigation revealed that Crawford was not wearing a seatbelt at time of crash. Speed is also believed to have been a factor in the crash.

Toxicology reports are pending from the St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office, and the investigation is ongoing at this time.

Sheriff Randy Smith reminds residents to always wear their seatbelts and to travel slower than posted speed limits when foggy conditions are present.
