Detectives with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Property Crimes Division arrested a Mandeville man Monday for burglarizing local veterinary clinics.

Michael Blake Jackson (DOB 6/26/1982; 200 Driftwood Street) was arrested after he was identified as the suspect responsible for four separate burglaries of two different veterinary clinics that occurred over the past three months in the Mandeville/Covington area.

A Mandeville-area vet clinic was burglarized on June 16, on July 17 and again on August 3.

The suspect forced entry in the business through a small exterior window and stole various amounts of prescription medication (typically meant for animals).

On August 11, a vet clinic near Covington was burglarized. Once again the suspect made entry through an exterior window and stole pill bottles containing medications for animals.

During each of the burglaries, the suspect was captured by the security cameras wearing a ski mask, latex/rubber gloves and a pair of flip flops.

Clips from the security camera videos were posted on the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office social media pages and garnered several tips from the public.

Detectives used these tips as well as evidence obtained through the investigation to identify Jackson as the suspect responsible for the burglaries.

A search warrant was executed on Jackson’s vehicle and residence, and the ski mask, flip flops and latex/rubber gloves were found. Detectives also located a GPS device and pry bars believed to have been used during the crimes and some of the stolen prescription bottles.

In one of the security videos from the Covington-area clinic, the letters EMS can be seen on the suspect’s undershirt. Detectives have since learned that Jackson worked as a mechanic for a local ambulance company in the metro area.

Jackson was arrested and booked into the St. Tammany Parish Jail on four counts of L.R.S. 14:62.1 – Simple Burglary of a Pharmacy.
