UPDATE: Jason Pinkowski, the man who stole a diamond ring from a Covington-area department store the day before Valentine’s day, was arrested in New Orleans on Feb. 24. He was wanted by multiple jurisdictions (NOPD, St. Bernard Parish, Mississippi, Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, and the U.S. Marshals). He is currently being held in the Jefferson Parish Jail and will be transported later this month to the St. Tammany Parish Jail, where he will face charges stemming from the theft of the ring. Thank you to all of our followers, who called in tips and shared the post, helping us to identify and locate Pinkowski.
St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man who walked into a Covington-area department store the day before Valentine’s Day and stole a diamond ring.
A white man, with straight, short hair and goatee entered the department store just before 7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 13. He walked around the store for a while before stopping at the jewelry department to glance at thejewelry on display in the cases. He was dressed in a blue jeans, a long-sleeved denim shirt and tennis shoes.
After pacing for several minutes inside the store, the man exited the store and drove off in a white two-toned colored minivan. The man drove the van around the parking lot several times before parking and walking back into the department store.
Upon re-entering the store, the man hesitated at the doorway and then walked to the jewelry department, asking to see one of the diamond rings that were on display.After being handed the ring, the man ran out of the store with the ring in his hand and drove off in the two-toned white minivan.
The ring is described as having 1 carat total weight, with three diamonds. It is valued at $5,000 and is a size seven.
