STPSO deputies assisted in a vehicle pursuit that entered St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office jurisdiction Tuesday evening.

Shortly before 7 p.m. on Tuesday (March 6), St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s deputies were advised of a pursuit taking place southbound on I-59 involving Pearl River County Sheriff’s Office and Picayune Police Department and a stolen vehicle. STPSO deputies responded and joined the pursuit near the West Pearl River Bridge.

The driver of the stolen vehicle, a blue Nissan Altima, travelled in excess of 100 miles per hour as it travelled through St. Tammany Parish and into Orleans Parish, before making a U-turn and reentering St. Tammany Parish.

While attempting to evade deputies, the stolen vehicle struck an STPSO unit at one point, causing minor functional damage.

The pursuit ended when the vehicle ran out of gas and came to rest on the shoulder of I-10, after crossing back into Mississippi.

The driver, Kacy Nix (DOB 5/10/1988; 61 Pea Ridge Rd., Picayune) was taken in custody by Pearl River County Sheriff’s Office shortly before 7:30 p.m.

In addition to the charges she is facing in other jurisdictions, St. Tammany Parish Sherriff’s issued warrants for Nix for the following traffic violations:
14:99 Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle
14:108.1 Aggravated Flight from an Officer
14:100 Hit and Run

Pearl River County, Picayune Police Department, Louisiana State Police, Slidell Police Department and Hancock County Sheriff’s Office were all involved in the pursuit.

No traffic incidents, other than the damage to the STPSO unit, were reported as a result of the pursuit.
