St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s detectives are asking for the public’s help identifying a man who robbed an Abita Springs-area store in broad daylight Friday (Feb. 24, 2017) afternoon.

At approximately 3:30 p.m. a white man, described as being approximately 6-foot tall with a slender build, walked into the Dollar General store on Louisiana Highway 59 just south of Abita Springs. The man, who was wearing dark blue running pants with a white stripe on the side, a black sweatshirt, a baseball cap and sunglasses, walked around the store for approximately 20 minutes before approaching the checkout counter.

As he approached the counter, he implied he had a weapon under his shirt and demanded the cashier give him money.

The cashier gave him an undisclosed amount of cash from the register and the man fled the store, driving off in what appeared to be a gold in color, older-model Nissan Altima. The vehicle had what appeared to be a red or dark-colored hood.

Anyone who recognizes this man or this vehicle or has information about this crime, is asked to call Det. Crabtree at 985-726-7839.
