Boys and Girls between the ages of 14 and 20 (must have completed the eighth grade if under 15) who are interested in future careers in law enforcement are invited to fill out an application to join STPSO's Junior Deputy Explorer Post No. 1324.
The Law Enforcement Explorer Program, which is a program of Boy Scouts of America, provides young adults interested in future careers in law enforcement an awareness of the criminal justice system through training, practical experiences and other activities.
The program will introduce young people to potential careers in law enforcement or related criminal justice fields and will help them grow in strength of character, respect for the rule of law, physical fitness, good citizenship and apacatriotism.
Five areas of emphasis will be career opportunities, life skills, citizenship, character education and leadership experience.
Participants will receive career-focused training and will serve the community by assisting the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office in non-enforcement and volunteer liaison capacities.
Call Sgt. Barry Sicard at 985-863-6507 or email him for more information about the program.
