Remember that there may be no electricity at your home. If you return you should bring food, water, fuel, ice, flashlights and other supplies as the electricity may be off for five or more days. You must also be aware that all businesses in the St Tammany may not be open to buy these supplies. **** IMPORTANT MESSAGES: • Please drive carefully because most traffic lights are not working. • The Justice Center (Courthouse) in Covington will not be open to the public until Monday, September 8, 2008. • All non-emergency Sheriff's Office employees are to report work no later than Thursday, September 4, 2008, at 12:00 noon. Status update on effects of Hurricane Gustav - September 2, 2008 - 12:45 pm Date: 09/02/2008 No one will be allowed back into St. Tammany Parish until the Parish Government advises re-entry will be allowed. Currently we have approximately 90% of St. Tammany Parish without electricity and without electricity, there is no gasoline available. Unfortunately we do not have any information as to when power will be restored. South winds have slowed the water flow and the rivers are still rising, particularly the Bogue Falaya River, Tchefuncte River, Pearl River and Abita River.
