The Methamphetamine Response Unit is a special unit that conducts investigations of methamphetamine trafficking, organization chemical companies, manufacturers, and distributors.  The unit responds to clandestine laboratory sites throughout the parish.  Each agent is highly trained in this field and continues his/her education each year to maintain his/her certification.  The drug called Methamphetamine, Meth, or Crystal Meth is produced in clandestine (secret/illegal) laboratories.  Meth is made from an assortment of easily obtained household chemicals.  It is highly toxic and very harmful to both people, and the environment.  Clan labs are extremely dangerous. Therefore, persons who enter a contaminated building should be equipped with the necessary protective clothing and equipment. The Sheriff's Office asks that you report any suspicious residence, building, or activity to your local law enforcement agency immediately.
