The Criminal Records Section is of one of three sections comprising Department 09 - Criminal Records, Warrants, and Collections. Responsible for maintaining the integrity of all agency police reports submitted by enforcement and corrections personnel the Criminal Records staff serves as an integral part of justice, maintaining the timely flow of information to the proper authority for the judicial process to begin.
St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office reports UCR (Uniform Crime Reporting) statistics monthly to the state for their submission to the FBI. UCR statisticians have a full capacity workload reviewing reports for UCR classification.
Data entry of traffic tickets generated by the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office is conducted by Criminal Records clerks. Each ticket is then checked for quality assurance before submittal to the courts.
Warrants clerks are charged with maintaining the integrity of the warrant file. Data entry is conducted for entering all warrants issued by agency personnel, Justices of the Peace for the Parish of St. Tammany and all non-support, civil and juvenile attachments issued by the 22nd JDC Clerk of Court.
Court attachments for traffic and criminal are an automated transfer of information from the Clerk of Court to the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office program files however each record requires manual review for quality assurance. Agency reports are released in accordance with Louisiana Public Records Law, Title 44

Current fees for releasable reports/documents are as follows:
- Incident Report/Offense report - $5.00
- Notice to Appear or Complaint Arrest Reports - $15.00
- Accident Reports - $5.00
Request for criminal history / background checks are provided documenting arrest record from information contained within the files of the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office only. Charge disposition is housed by the Clerk of Court. Criminal history / background checks requiring a more comprehensive search to include other entities and/or jurisdictions and ALL requests for criminal history / background checks on individuals who will be dealing with children or elderly will be referred to the Louisiana State Police Criminal Records Section at 225-925-1886. - Self-check for employment - $10.00
- Check on someone other than the party making inquiry - $15.00
